Srinagar, July 1: The Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front today condemned curfew and killings in Kashmir saying such ‘autocratic’ approach won’t subdue the people of Kashmir. The JKLF welcomed Yatris and accused some Delhi-based news channels and political parties of trying to project Kashmiris as anti-Yatra. In a press statement issued here, the JKLF condemned continuous detention of its Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik. The JKLF Vice-Chairman, Advocate Bashir Ahmad Bhat said on one hand large number of people were being taken into custody on the other some selective channels and political parties were vitiating atmosphere in Jammu and Kashmir by trying to project Kashmiris as anti-Yatra. Reminding of 2008, he said that JKLF volunteers established relief camps for Yatris. “Kashmiris believe in religious coexistence. When Kashmiris were facing bullets, they remembered their hospitality and were serving food to Yatris during economic blockade,” he said. He said India and its forces have “unleashed reign of terror” in Kashmir. “They have formally announced war against people of Kashmir. Everyone in Kashmir is insecure,” he said. He accused Chief Minister of giving a clean chit to the forces. “Has he not seen that Rafique Bangroo was beaten to death? Has he not seen books near the body of Tufail Matoo when he was shot at,” Bhat added.
